The first step is to plan ahead! When is your moving date? Get things ready a week before the moving date. If you know which moving company you want, go ahead and let them know when you're moving and what your expectations are.
Yes! Label your boxes! It’ll save you a lot of time digging through all your stuff. Use a box for all of your shoes, a box for toys, a box for glasses and so forth. Also, remember to put a Caution sign onto the boxes that have fragile items.
To make things easier, pack your dishes, cups and glass in a box that says "FRAGILE." Make sure to wrap everything individually with either newspaper or bubble wraps.
While packing your things up, did you find a few things you no longer need? That's no problem! Instead of just throwing everything away, do a yard sale! That will save you the trouble of throwing everything away and having to pay for a garbage fee. Some cash is better than no cash.
Always keep your birth certificates, social security card and school records with you when you move. It’s better to have those papers with you than to put it in the movers car.
Children, you can’t forget them. While packing everything up, give them something to do so that they will stay out of trouble. Children can do simple task such as putting all their toys in a box or even boxing up shoes.
If you’re moving, don’t forget to change your address to your new address a week ahead. All of your mails and packages should all be going to your new home.
